Description
Because shoebox cages are asymmetrical, when a fixed swivel mount is used tethers that are long enough to reach the far corners of the cage can tangle at the center, giving the animal a chance to chew at them. Tethers that are short enough to prevent tangling will restrain the animal, resulting in unnecessary stress. This new mount solves those problems by pivoting in the vertical plane to remove slack from tether but allowing enough length to reach all corners of the cage. The adjustable counter-weight can be set to balance the weight of our swivels plus a tether. Use model CM375BP for plastic swivels and model CM375BS for stainless steel swivels.
We recommend this mount for standard infusion of rats in shoebox cages. The crossbar in the wire top must be clipped in the slot that the tether is placed for maximum travel (or you can purchase the slotted top from Instech, part no CM/T143). For mouse work or microdialysis, we recommend the more responsive MCLA or SMCLA.
