Description
SpeedSort is a fully featured package for fast spike-sorting and spike-train analysis.
Once your experiment has been concluded, you can take advantage of the speed and robust accuracy of SpeedSort in the next step of the research chain.
The main objectives set during the development of this unique application were:
- ensuring full database integration with the experiment software neuro-Guide and with the Reco tools for advanced visualization
- development of a fast and accurate sorting algorithm to enable user-independent (« hands-free ») spike-sorting sessions that can be run in batch mode
- giving the user the possibility to review an objective measure of the quality of classification, per spike class as well as for the entire waveform
- connection of a module for advanced spike train analysis at the end of the classification process
SpeedSort imports individual raw-signal waveform files or an entire database. The database files are grouped and sorted automatically according to the electrode xy and z position.
The spike-sorting processor is based on an original algorithm that has been tuned for robust performance without the need of user intervention. Even the detection threshold is computed automatically based on an optimization process.
The spike classes are calculated almost instantly and displayed in the result window, along with their firing rate and pattern information. With a button click one can get advanced spike train analysis results, or visualize and save wavemark channels.
The results are automatically saved in a browsable database, that can be further communicated to Reco.
